TIME AND TIDE Jewellery Collection (Sea Glass and Ceramic)

Each piece of jewellery is unique and handcrafted using the most stunning pieces of sea glass and ceramic. The majority of the pieces used in the jewellery have been found on the beautiful beaches of Anglesey and North Wales.

These are then prepared by hand drilling, a delicate and precise process, ensuring the jewellery can not be mass-produced. The glass and ceramic pieces are threaded onto gorgeous differently coloured leather cords and creatively combined with various beautiful glassbeads, pearls and charms, depending on the inspiration for the particular piece. Each item is  totally original and special. Sometimes the glass is tumbled to enhance translucence, other pieces are left closer to theiroriginal state – opaque and frosted.

Sea glass originates mostly from discarded bottles, jars, plates etc but can also come from shipwrecks. Brown, green and clear glass is most common, with soft green and light turquoise colours being found once every 50 –100 pieces. Purple, citron, cobalt and rose are rare. Each bit of glass or pottery has a unique and mysterious history.

Sea glass is also known as Mermaid’s tears, or sea sapphires. These lovely treasures are created by natural recycling. As we are becoming more environmentally aware and responsible, bottles and other glass objects are no longer dumped in the sea, so genuine sea glass is increasingly sought after and hard to find.

This is jewellery that is in harmony with the current zeitgeist of being eco-friendly. It’s about noticing and valuing the extraordinary beauty that already exists around us and using this as a basis for creating the jewellery that is relevant to our times.

Prices are to suit all budgets, and depend on the amount of sea glass drilled and used and the cost of beads/pearls etc that may also be used in the jewellery and labour involved. Special commissions accepted on request.
